Creativity Lesson: The Student Returns to the Creativity Teacher

Grade level range: Middle School

  Length of time to teach lesson: 8 Minutes

Overview of lesson:  Students are going to have a scenario given to them that needs a solution. Every member will take on a role of a creator and they will then begin to problem solve their scenario. They have prompting questions along the way to help them move in between roles and facilitate productive team building.

Objectives (Learning targets) of this lesson:  Students will use collaborative techniques to problem solve. Students will practice productive discussion strategies with their partners.

Resources/supplies/handouts needed to teach this lesson: Double sided hand-out, Pen/Pencil, Colored Pencils

Lesson instructions:

Students will be given hand-out and a brief explanation of the game.
Students will listen to a brief explanation of their roles and how they are relevant to the game.
Students will begin problem solving “How to get off the island.”

 Assessment: This rubric follows the Get off the island Creativity lesson. This rubric is used as a self-assessment on how well the student(s) believe they managed to get off the island. They were given minimal tools and had to think outside the box to be successful. This rubric is to assess themselves on their own thoughts on how they used creativity.
